Well, good day all, and welcome to May. April is now over, and what a month that was!

I’m currently sat in a beer garden (on my phone), writing this post. Its lovely to have a day off to do basically nothing.

For me, April consisted of a many number of auditions, but mainly filming for 4 short films, rehearsing for a theatre production and performing it, and just some work in the ‘real’ world…

The four short films: Last year I filmed a pilot short, for a sitcom style short film. End of Feb, I was back on set to film for the full version, being the only original cast member back for it. That was good fun. Do to some location difficulties and scheduling conflicts, we’re due to film the remaining two scenes for that next week. That was ‘Ben & Alfie’ directed under Simba Mlambo of Farnborough College of Technology. Simba, a promising passionate young talent, who should get far in the industry! After this was ‘Who’s That Girl?’ also for some guys at Farnborough. My character was quite similar to Alfie, but I did try to vary it a bit… This was only a short shoot. Then there was ‘Collision’ which was for Kevin Wosnitza, a sure name to go with the industry. When I originally read the script, I didnt think I would be suitable for the role. I emailed Kevin and said, but he said he didnt want to rule anyone out, and would still audition me, so he did. Then I got the role. It was quite a different role, and I enjoyed the internal challenge for the role. The script explored ‘The Butterfly Effect’ theory, and was quite clever. I’m looking forward to seeing that one! After this was ‘Heaven, here I come’, in which Simba called me up for to see if I would like the role. I said yes! All very last minute it was, and considering my workload at the time, it was a challenge. The team on that were all very focused and knew what they wanted from it, and that’s great!

Amongst all the filming, I had occasional rehearsals for ‘The Waiting Game’, a show which a good and talented friend of mine wrote, Luke Burton. He cast myself and 4 others in the show, which explored themes possibly of purgatory, confusion and, I guess, to a certain degree, redemption. Alot of audience were confused by the show, however, this was a good thing as there was no right or wrong answers as to the theory of the show. It was as a whole, received well, and sold well too. There is speculation about re-running the show, or taking it further. We’ll see.

Now, im a little quiet temporarily, and so looking out for more suitable work. I have though, been doing some writing and entering this into writing competitions for short scripts etc. We’ll see how that goes.

All Work, No Play

I’ve not blogged in here in a little while… I guess it’s much easier to ‘micro-blog’ using things like twitter and facebook… Especially when you’re out and about all the time (despite also having a tumblr app on my phone - however, it still takes time to write an actual blog entry, such as this :-p)

So, recently, i have been immensely busy, as the title says: All Work, No Play.

I’m currently filming a short film called ‘Heaven Here I Come’ which i was cast in earlier this week, and have been filming that the last couple of days (today a long and hot shoot). It’s quite a good little script (i say little, 28pages long, but still classed as a ‘short film’). A couple of weeks ago, i began filming for a full-length version of the pilot short film/sitcom ‘Ben & Alfie’ which i did last year. The only original cast member… lol. We still have a couple of scenes to shoot on that, which has now become apparent will be next week :-). The director for that called me up on Tuesday and said he was working on this other project, and would i like the role in which i am now playing in it. They’re a good team. If i’m available, i wouldn’t turn down working with one or all of them again in the future!

Next week i am performing in a show for a friend and local actor/director, a script of his. Ticket sales have gone very well for an ‘unknown’ show… and we’ve still got friends and family to book yet. That’s on Weds-Fri this coming week, with tech and dress runs on Mon/Tues.

Aswell as that on Monday, i will also be completing the filming for that which i have been filming the last couple of days. Because of a change of weather today (which made the air nice and cool, so wasn’t all bad), we had to cancel filming of the last to scenes of the day today, and they have been added onto Mondays shoot - also alot of scenes to film that day already…

I have been working on other projects also, and recently completed a short script for submission into a playwriting festival. Also looking into ideas for a full-length play for another writing competition. Possibly teaming up with my friend (as earlier mentioned) on that one. We will enter discussions after next week.

So, like i say, recently it has been very much all work and no play. I shan’t complain. In the first 4 months of this year, i have 6 credits to my CV. Not bad going. Hopefully will be adding more and more over the course of the year. I’m on holiday for a month this summer, so need to make up for that time lost :-p.

Today I have been debating whether or not to acquire a tablet pc… Iv been offered the Samsung galaxy tab, but I think my best option is to wait for the tab2 which will hopefully be released soon…

I DO NOT want an ipad… Lol. Its too annoying to be tied in to, I dnt like that about apple. Everything is too exclusive. I like it to be accessible…

Anyway, I shall ponder some more :-)

A Family Affair

Good morning all!
I’m writing this from a very handy tumblr app on my phone, in a gazebo where there is a lil afterparty gathering from the family do iv been at this evening.
Was a good night.
Its approaching my bedtime, but tonight, I’m sleeping in a caravan lol, which is quite handy.
I feel it necessary tonight though to stay awake as long as poss, to ensure I can get to sleep once I hit the pillow… an unfortunate issue I have to deal with lol, but there you go…
Its been a good night though, and tomorrow off to see a special friend.
